FAQs
How do I calculate drops per minute?
Drops per minute = (Total volume in ml × Drops factor) ÷ Time in minutes. Drops factor depends on your IV tubing (typically 10, 15, or 20).
What is drops factor?
Drops factor (or drop factor) is the number of drops per milliliter in your IV tubing. Check your tubing package: 10 = macrodrip rapid, 15 = macrodrip standard, 20 = microdrip.
When would I use ml/hr vs drops/min?
Use ml/hr for infusion pumps (automated). Use drops/min for manual gravity infusions where you count drops at the drip chamber.
