Time Card Calculator

Calculate daily and weekly work hours, break times, and gross pay with overtime rates

How to Use

The **Time Card Calculator** helps you estimate your weekly hours and gross pay.

  • Check the active box for days you worked.
  • Input start and end times in 24-hour or standard format (e.g. 09:00 to 17:00).
  • Specify break minutes (unpaid, subtracted from hours).
  • Hours above the threshold (default 40) will automatically calculate at the overtime multiplier rate.

FAQs

How do I calculate total hours worked?

For each day, subtract the start time from the end time, then subtract any unpaid break duration. Convert the net minutes to decimal hours.

How is overtime calculated?

By default, hours worked above 40 in a single week are treated as overtime. Overtime hours are typically paid at a higher rate, such as 1.5 times the regular hourly wage.

What if a shift spans overnight?

If the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator automatically assumes a shift that crosses midnight (e.g. 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM) and calculates the correct duration.

How to Use the Time Card Calculator

Add up daily work hours across a week, minus breaks, for timesheets and payroll.

  1. Enter clock-in and clock-out times for each day.
  2. Subtract unpaid breaks.
  3. See daily and weekly totals in decimal hours.

Time Card Math

Daily Hours

Hours = (Clock Out − Clock In − Break) / 60

Work in minutes, then convert to decimal hours.

Example:

Input: 9:00–17:30, 30-min break

Calculation: (510 − 30)/60

Result: 8.0 hours
